What you will learn

Get your Maths moving with help to add up, take away and read and write whole numbers. You will also work with money more confidently and learn about weight, height, capacity and shapes.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Add, subtract,multiply and divide whole and decimal numbers up to two decimal places
  • Work out fraction parts using unit fractions
  • Solve simple problems involving conversion between metric units of length, weight and capacity

Class format and activities

One lesson a week in-centre with compulsory homework. Microsoft Teams will be used as the main platform for assignments and additional learning; including discussion boards, group chats, private messaging and submitting coursework. Assessment methods: Achievement on your course will be measured by formative assessment against the learning outcomes.

Entry requirements

This course is suitable for learners who have completed Functional maths entry 2.

What you need to know before you enrol

This course runs once a week and you are expected to attend every session.• Minimum 95% attendance and punctuality are required from all students.• This course requires some personal study time in addition to the completion of homework, please set aside an average of 3 - 4 hours per week for these activities

What you need

You will need a calculator, writing materials, a notebook, geometry set and a computer/tablet for your homework (Mobile phone alone may not be suitable for completing maths assignments) with Internet access.
