In this course, we will delve into the art of the late 19th and early 20th centuries that explores the experiences, challenges, and cultural contributions of migrants and the phenomenon of migration. We will analyze how Italian artists portrayed these themes through various artistic mediums, including paintings, sculptures, photography, and other forms of visual expression. By the end of this course, you will have gained a deeper understanding of Italian art from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. You will examine the themes, techniques, and symbolism employed in each painting, as well as the social and cultural influences that shaped their creation. You will also appreciate how these works have contributed to shaping cultural narratives and fostering dialogue on migration-related issues. Beautiful photos, related texts and activities will give you an opportunity to revise grammatical structures and practice the language at a high level. The course is suitable for students at different language stages, from upper intermediate to advanced.

No formal qualifications are necessary; a upper intermediate knowledge of the Italian language is required to be able to follow the course in Italian only.
You will do independent reading, research and language activities before every lesson. Excellent attendance and punctuality is required.
