Get ready for an exciting celebration of creativity and skill as London Craft Week gears up for its special tenth anniversary in 2024.
From 13 – 18 May, this year’s event promises something for everyone, no matter your age or interests.
Since its inception in 2015, London Craft Week has steadily grown in scale and prominence, drawing in nearly a quarter of a million visitors in 2023 alone.
With over 700 makers from 40 countries and more than 200 partners participating in a diverse array of events, the festival has become a beacon for those passionate about the arts and craftsmanship.
Through curated programs and events, attendees have the opportunity to delve into the inspiration, processes, and materials that shape these masterpieces.
From hidden workshops to renowned luxury houses, the festival invites exploration of London’s rich creative landscape.

This year, Morley College London is again proud to be a part of London Craft Week, offering a gateway for enthusiasts to engage directly with craftsmanship through a series of immersive workshops.
During London Craft Week, participants can immerse themselves in hands-on experiences across a spectrum of disciplines, including textiles, jewellery, ceramics, printmaking, millinery, pattern cutting, and artistic glassmaking.
These workshops offer a unique opportunity to learn from experienced artisans and hone one’s craft in a supportive environment.

As a highlight of the week’s activities, Morley College is thrilled to host a Penny Lecture featuring acclaimed author Ali Smith on Friday, May 17th, at the Waterloo Centre. This engaging talk promises to delve into the intersection of literature and craftsmanship, offering fresh insights and perspectives on the creative process.
Friday 17 May: 11:00 – 14:00 Cyanotypes and Photograms Workshop
This exciting workshop will take you back to the beginning of camera-less photography allowing you to explore photographic and solar printing processes such as Lumen prints, Cyanotypes and Photograms. You will be using leaves, flowers and fruits, as well as man-made objects. During the course, the tutor will provide a step-by-step guidance, which will include mixing chemicals, coating techniques and processing procedures for the making of creative results. By the end of the workshop, you would have acquired skills that you can use and experiment at your own time.
Monday 13 May: Ceramics
10:00 – 1:00 Decorating China with Transfers: An opportunity to create your own unique, hand-decorated piece of China using ceramic transfers. You will explore design ideas with exciting visual resources provided by your tutor. A piece of fine white glazed china is provided which we kiln-fire to make the transfers professional and permanent, ready for you to collect a week later by arrangement.
Tuesday 14 May: Jewellery
10:00 – 12:00pm ‘Strike a Mark! Patterns and Textures for Jewellery using Punches and Hammers (with Jenny MacDonald): Strike a Mark! – Patterns and textures for jewellery using punches and hammers. This taster workshops will introduce you to the jewellery studio and the fundamentals of metal. Try out a range of specialist tools including punches and hammers and create personalised motifs, write your name or short messages onto metal. A fun session suitable for anyone with a curiosity for jewellery or wishing to find out more about our courses.
