We will be running a number of tasters to excite and inspire you! Interested in taking up a subject for the New Year? All tasters are 1 hour sessions and are £5 each unless other wise stated.
|Cuban Rhythms and Dance Taster||11:00-12:00||Learn how to mix and improvise the different Cuban dance styles including Chachacha, Mambo, Reggeton , Afro Cuban Rumba, old Cuban rhythms like Mozambique, Pilon and Conga – according to the music. Book now|
|Introduction to Acting Workshop||11:30-13:30||An introduction to acting which will also build confidence, self-awareness, interpersonal skills and trust. The workshop will touch on improvisation, role-play; voice, movement and text-based work; character building and devised ensemble performance. Book now|
|Folk Choir Taster||12:00-13:00||Discover the joy of singing in a folk choir. Enjoy the camaraderie of singing in a group and the challenge of communicating in this art form. This taster will touch on developing aural and musical skills, understanding some of the challenges of blending as a member of a choir in the folk style and singing with greater confidence. Book now|
|Winter Print Workshop||12:00-13:00||A great introduction to printmaking and the print studio at Morley College London. Make your own winter print by cutting paper stencils and making them into coloured prints using inks rolled onto lino. This is a chance to ask questions about our courses in the New Year. Book now|
|Light Writing using DSLR and Smartphones||12:30-13:30||Join us at the Morley College annual Winter Fair where we will be running an hour workshop using different methods to use light writing using both DSLR and Smartphone cameras. Please note that all participants will need to wear a mask throughout the workshop. Book now|
|Japanese Festive Card Making||13:00-14:00||You will have the opportunity to learn a few words in Japanese and to unleash your creative juices. Hisano Luttman is a languages tutor at Morley. She is also an artist and the daughter of a calligraphy master. Having developed her skills in this craft over the years, she now not only teaches Japanese language, but also Japanese calligraphy. Make A Festive Stocking
|13:00-15:00||This taster will allow you to create a personalised festive stocking. Using a variety of hand and machine sewing techniques you will decorate a cotton stocking which you can take home and keep. This taster is suitable for all skill levels, although some understanding of either hand or machine stitch is helpful. Book now. Book now|
|Accounting for Beginners||14:00-15:00||Considering studying an accounting qualification but not sure what it will be like? We will be running a taster lesson for anyone interested in studying Accounting at Morley College. The session will focus on how to interpret the profit and loss account of a company. Book now|
Performances will take place in Morley’s Holst Room and all performances will be from Morley’s fantastic staff and students.
Piano Performance – Valse of the Flowers 12:00-12:10
Morley tutors Dimitris Karydis and Petros Moschos will play ‘Valse of the Flowers’ by Tchaikovsky from The Nutcracker, performed on 2 pianos; a very festive piece.
Flamenco Dance Performance 13:00-13:20
Fiery flamenco from Fenella Juanita, Juan Giraldo, Morley Flamenco Dance Ensemble and Morley Flamenco Dancers. This is an exciting and highly visual performance using fans, shawls, castanets and tail skirts and exploring a range of emotions through Spanish and flamenco dance, song and music.
Folk Choir Performance 14:00-14:20
Morley Folk choir perform interesting arrangements of an eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary folk songs. The choir will perform a selection of seasonal and nature inspired songs especially for the Winter Fair.
We will also have small choir performances throughout the day around the college which will include some Christmas carols.
