What you will learn

This course will allow you to explore sculpture whilst learning fundamental wood & stone carving techniques. Beginners and returning students work alongside in a mutually supportive environment learning from both your tutor and each other. You can choose to develop your own projects in abstract or figurative sculpture, lettering, or functional objects. Develop ideas in clay and carve in various types of wood & stone. All levels welcome including beginners. Basic materials included but charged for when you exceed your materials allowance.

  • Understand fundamental carving techniques
  • Develop your own individual projects
  • Understand basic health and safety. Know where to source tools and materials

    We will be exploring either stone or wood carving techniques, and developing your individual projects in your chosen material. There will be demonstrations and group discussion, and one to one teaching.

    Entry requirements

    NO everyone is welcome including Beginners.

    What you need to know before you enrol

    No, all students can work at their own individual pace. Pelham Hall sculpture studio is off site from the Main College - please check map on the website.

    What you need

    Please ensure you wear sturdy enclosed shoes shoes. Also an overall or apron is useful. We provide materials and tools for most projects. Bring sketch book and pencils. Materials charged for when you exceed your course materials allowance.
