What you will learn

Create a unique handmade album as a place to record and keep your textile samples and ideas. Make a simple stitched book with a mix of cloth and paper pages, decorative covers and useful tied tape fastenings.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Create a custom-made album to suit your work
  • Learn how to bind pages of varying sizes and material qualities into a spaced spine.
  • Make strongly stitched-in decorative covers
  • Apply tie tapes or other optional fastenings

    What you need to know before you enrol

    Please note that the Textiles studio E21 is on the second floor of the Nancy Seear building. The class is situated on the second floor of the Nancy Seear Building. There is partial disabled access is via a stair lift. Please contact ALS on: 0207 450 1972 or Art & Design Admin on: 0207 450 1934 before enrolling if you have any mobility support needs.

    What you need

    Please bring a small selection of your own choice of cloth and paper to bind. Basic calico, cotton cloth and cartridge paper is available in the department.
