In this 5 week introduction to Kitchen Litho, you'll learn how to use simple materials that are readily available in your kitchen to create stunning prints. You'll explore the principles of lithography and discover how to create printing plates by drawing and mark-making.
In this small group course, students will learn through tutor-led presentations, demonstrations, and one-to-one tutorials. They'll gain practical experience in lithography, explore image-making and mark-making techniques, and create their own lithography edition. The tutor will provide ongoing support and feedback to foster creativity and skill development.
There is no prior printmaking experience required, this course is suitable for all.
Health and safety information will be given at the start of the course and subsequent lessons where necessary. You will be asked to sign a form declaring that you agree to follow health and safety procedures as advised. Some chemicals used may be harmful in pregnancy, and some may cause irritation in very rare cases. Please let the tutor know if you are pregnant or have any sensitivities and they will advise you as to necessary precautions Note: at present there is no wheelchair access to the print studio, and the studios are on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the building. If you have any mobility issues please contact the department prior to enrolling.
