What you will learn

This course will continue to build on what you learned in Module 1 and 2. We'll focus on improving your English for everyday situations in the UK. You'll learn how to speak more confidently in real-life situations, like at work or with your community. The course will use fun activities and practice to improve your communication skills. By the end, you'll feel more comfortable in different situations and be better at using English in your daily life.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Speak more confidently in everyday situations, like at work or with your community, by practicing and improving your English communication skills.
  • Learn about daily life in the UK, including how people interact at work and in the community, making you feel more comfortable in different situations.
  • Improve your ability to use English practically by engaging in activities and practice sessions, enhancing your communication skills for real-life scenarios.
  • Develop the skill to read and explain various materials, such as emails, forms, stories, brochures, signs, and symbols, improving your overall comprehension and communication in daily life and work.

Class format and activities

You will meet in-person, twice per week at the North Kensington Centre. You will work in pairs or small groups or individually. You will have a one-to-one with your tutor to talk about your progress. You will experience a range of activities such as listening, role play, reading aloud, writing, quizzes, word searches and other games. You will use YouTube, an interactive whiteboard and computers to help you learn. Everything that you learn will help you in your daily life.

Entry requirements

There are no entry requirements but you will have an initial assessment to determine your knowledge of the alphabet and understanding of basic instructions.

What you need to know before you enrol

You will know how to read and write in your own language. Contact North Kensington centre to make an appointment for Advice and Guidance to confirm this course is right for you. Making good progress on the course will depend on regular attendance and punctuality. A minimum of 90% attendance is required from students at Morley College London.

What you need

You will need writing materials (a pen, a notebook) and a folder to store materials.

What you can do next

After completion of this course, you may be able to join an accredited ESOL course focussing on a different area of proficiency. Your tutor will be able to advise you.
