What you will learn

This study programme allows you to a practical and applied approach to your learning in a vocational context. It provides an engaging and robust introdcution to the key principles in the sport sector. Completion of the course will give learners the potential opportunity to progress to further study or employment in a wide range of job roles across the Sport sector, for example posts in leisure centres, health and fitness clubs, outdoor sports venues and sports arenas or stadia.

Class format and activities

The course is made up of a variety of modules that include both practical and assignment-based assessments. There are two externally assessed units that deal with anatomy and physiology and fitness for sport and exercise. The approach for the internally assessed units provides opportunities to explore beyond these principles into vocationally linked activities and enables you to receive feedback on your progress throughout the course.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at Grade 3 or above including English and maths. A Level 1 qualification in an appropriate subject area will be considered if accompanied by a good reference for attitude, behaviour, attendance and punctuality.

What you need to know before you enrol

If you are under 19 years of age and do not have a Grade 4 in either/or maths and English, you will be required to retake these alongside your vocational course.

What you need

You should arrive to your lessons prepared to learn with pens, pencils and writing pad. All other resources and materials you need will be provided. To complete your assignments you will need a laptop/PC and reliable internet access.
