Starts: 21 May 2024
This workshop will cover the foundations and basic vocabulary of house dance. With its roots in hip hop dance and influenced by many other dance styles from tap to salsa, this style came into the scene in the late 70s - early 80s due to various social and music scene changes. Heavy on footwork and keeping a sense of freedom, house dance is soulful and highly creative. You will learn the basics, as well as variations and combinations, and tips to further your practice. Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the following learning outcomes. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals i.e. progression to an advanced-level course.
