Building on your Kathak skills, this course prepares students for solo, duo and group performance. You will be involved in the choreographic process of a new dance piece, which will be created for the project. You will have the opportunity to take part in a public performance at the end of the course. Class is accompanied by a tabla player for some sessions. Please note: the course is suitable for those enrolled on Kathak: Intermediate. For students new to Kathak study at Morley, two years previous experience is required. Being prepared to do some work at home for the digital recordings - clapping rhythm, suggesting movements etc In addition to your dance practice, study can include the use of digital resources such as film & photography, useful websites and connection with online communities of interest via social media to enhance your learning. Dance study offers a range of benefits including being an enjoyable way to increase fitness whilst enhancing well being. Approximately two years' training in Kathak. For students with previous experience of dance the time span may be reduced. The course will help develop strength and stamina but a basic level of fitness is required to be able to undertake continuous exercise for about an hour with a short break for stretching and a drink of water. The dancers are required to dance in bare feet. Photography and film recording of class activities may be used in order to aid learning. These images may also be used for publicity or marketing materials produced by Morley College, both online and in print. You will have the opportunity to either confirm or decline consent to being filmed or photographed.
