What you will learn

Explore this exciting printmaking technique for transferring an image into print media for stunning and dynamic results. ‘Screen Printing’ also known as ‘Silkscreen’ and ‘Serigraphy’ is a stencil-based print technique where an image is created by pushing ink through a mesh that is attached to a screen, with a squeegee. The image outcome is controlled by applying stencilling techniques to the screen’s mesh, such as paper stencils, film stencils, hand-drawn acetate, photo stencils and drawing directly onto the screen’s mesh. You will gain a good overview of the screen printing technique by using photographic stencils and by applying simple principles of colour and design. You will develop ideas and imagery into silkscreen prints.
