What you will learn

The Exploring Printmaking (Thursday-all day) Courses at Morley College London - Chelsea Centre will provide an opportunity to explore the potential and possibilities of conventional printmaking mediums, such as Monoprint, Drypoint, Etching, Aquatin and more. You will work in the well-equipped studio with specialist facilities to develop your ideas and imagery into a portfolio of prints.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • You will be able to have a deeper understanding of printmaking techniques and processes and choose the most suitable mediums to explore your ideas.
  • Explore your own creative practice using printmaking.

Class format and activities

Each printmaking technique is taught by demonstration, one-to-one feedback, encouraging each student’s personal strengths and interests. Final prints can be submitted for our Exhibition in July when we enjoy a lively Private View to celebrate the work created during the year on all our courses.

Entry requirements

Intermediate and advanced level. Beginners welcome.

What you need to know before you enrol

The Printmaking Studio is at the Morley Chelsea Centre, Hortensia Road SW10 0QS, just off the Kings Road and Fulham Road, in the Carlyle building, room CG05 on the ground floor. Our lecturers are highly-experienced printmaking practitioners offering a unique insight into the printmaking discipline. We are a well-resourced department and have a well-equipped printroom. You do not need to source your plates or paper for the course we have large stocks of different materials which you can purchase from us in small quantities.

What you need

You need to bring some art equipment such a sketchbook and source material to work from, pencils, eraser, stanley/craft knife, a pair of gloves and an apron. There is a studio fee of £35. 00 payable to the tutor which covers basic materials, except paper and plates which you pay extra for as you use them. All materials including gloves are available to buy in the studio and the college shop. What you can do next

This course gives an opportunity to build a portfolio of prints to assist progression to our other intermediate and advanced printmaking courses. We have a large range of part time printmaking courses running during the day and evening at beginners, intermediate and advanced level.
