Want to read more, and discuss literature in a relaxed social group? This course is led by a tutor with a PhD in English literature, but focusses on enjoyment rather than academic study. We will explore one classic work of literature per month, with one key chapter/extract provided for discussion, though you are welcome to read more if you wish. Books read throughout the year may include: Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice (1813) Emily Brontë, Wuthering Heights (1847) Hermann Melville, Moby Dick (1851), Chapter One Virginia Woolf, Mrs Dalloway (1925) Zora Neale Hurston, Their Eyes Were Watching God (1937)

We will meet once a month. Each class will discuss a key extract from that month’s book, with some context on the book provided by the tutor.
