What you will learn

Sample and evaluate the best in film and theatre in London in the company of writer Jonathan Davies. A new film or play will be viewed every fortnight and then discussed and analysed the following week.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Develop a wider knowledge of film and theatre.
  • Develop a clearer understanding of story, structure, direction and performance
  • Respond critically to subject material and argue your point of view.
  • Talk in group discussions.

    Discussions in pairs and the whole group on the viewed material from the cinema and theatre visits. There will be a mix of question and answer and tutor input.

    Entry requirements

    A willingness to engage in group discussion and debates is expected. You should be able to travel independently and be able to make a commitment to attend regular performances of films and plays.

    What you need to know before you enrol

    An interest in film and theatre.
    The course may include films classified for viewing by 18 years and over.
    Admission charges and costs of visits to films and theatre productions are not included in the course fee.

    A willingness to enjoy leaving your comfort zone, trying plays or films you might not normally choose and some you would of course!
