This course offers an in-depth exploration of collage as an artistic technique, examining its historical significance, contemporary applications, and potential for creative expression. Designed for students of all skill levels, this course will introduce participants to diverse methods of collage-making, including traditional cut-and-paste, mixed-media approaches, and digital collage. Under the guidance of a highly experienced tutor with a PhD in Art, students will develop technical skills, experiment with composition and materials, and explore how collage can be used to convey personal and cultural narratives. Through a combination of practical workshops, critical discussions, and creative projects, participants will gain confidence in using collage as a powerful artistic medium. The course is structured to provide high-quality teaching within a supportive and stimulating environment, encouraging students to develop their unique artistic voice.
This course consists of 5 sessions, each lasting 3 hours. Sessions will be a combination of hands-on practical work, instructor-led demonstrations, group discussions, and individual critiques. By the final session, students will have created a series of collage artworks that showcase their skills and creative exploration.
This is an all abilities course - beginners welcome
Please bring a sketchbook and basic drawing materials to your first session. Your tutor will let you know what other materials will be required.
