From stamping feet to clapping hands, you will begin to explore the moods and styles of fiery Flamenco dance. Absolute Beginners Flamenco Dance is designed to suit those with no prior experience of Flamenco dance. Completion of this course will prepare you to enrol on our next level of provision - Flamenco Beginners and Improvers.

What you will learn
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Demonstrate very basic flamenco arm and foot movements.
- Recognise one of the core flamenco rhythms.
- Show development in your dance skills of co-ordination, strength, flexibility and stamina.
- Move onto one of the Beginners and Improvers Flamenco courses at Morley College London.

Class format and activities
This is an in studio course but you will receive video tutorials and / or written notes to help remind you of what we have studied each week. You will be undertaking practical exercises and patterns of movement demonstrated and guided by your tutor. You will be learning sequences through repetition of action so that you can master basic features of the technique. In order to ensure you make the best possible progress on the course, you will have regular, constructive and supportive feedback from your tutor.

What you need to know before you enrol
You will be clapping, stamping and learning short sequences of movement, so will need to be able to participate in physical activity.
What you need
Clothes you can move freely in. Flared long skirts are optional for the ladies. If possible, shoes with a small heel (eg cuban heel - no stillettos). Shoes must be securely attached to your feet. Tutor will advise at first lesson on flamenco shoes / boots but these are not essential for this course. Please bring a bottle of water.
