This course is specifically designed for advanced and proficient students who are seeking to master Italian while exploring Italy, its rich history, diverse architectural styles, and culture. This term we will focus on ‘‘Sicily in Literature and Cinema’’. Participants will engage in advanced language practice, focusing on refining their grammar, expanding their vocabulary, and enhancing their conversational skills. Additionally, the course offers a captivating exploration of Sicily and Sicilian culture, history, and identity through the lens of literature and cinema. Participants will embark on a multifaceted journey through the vibrant landscapes and rich narratives of Sicily, delving into the works of renowned authors and filmmakers who have been inspired by this fascinating region
These are remote lessons via video conference. You will get clear guidance and ongoing, regular, and informal feedback from your tutor, in a friendly and supportive environment. Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the learning outcomes above. At the start of the course, you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals.
No formal qualifications are necessary; an advanced knowledge of the Italian language is required to be able to follow the course in Italian only.
You will do independent reading, research, and language activities before every lesson. Excellent attendance and punctuality are required.
You will need a device to access online video sessions and materials (handouts and links to various websites) supplied by your tutor in Microsoft Teams.
