Bellydance Level 1
What you will learn
Develop your belly dance technique and confidence. This course is designed for students who want to take a more in depth focus on their art form using more advanced finger cymbals patterns, isolations, and choreographies.
Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the following learning outcomes. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals i.e. progression to an advanced-level course
By the end of the course you will be able to
- Show proficiency in the warm-up exercises designed to promote the specific physical strength and muscle development required to execute this dance safely and efficiently.
- Perform basic movements quarter time and/or half time with specific footwork patterns and timing
- Perform short combinations with tutor with or without finger cymbals
- Coordinate arm and hand movements to complement dancing

For sessions when students will be participating in class remotely, via live-stream link-up – and thus joining fellow students located in-studio, you will be guided how to adapt studio-based exercises in order to participate effectively throughout the class.
In order to ensure you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular constructive and supportive feedback from your tutor.
The tutor will also set assessment activities involving student exchange of ideas and student self-assessment for all students, whether you are participating in-studio or via live-stream.
We will be using Microsoft Teams as our online platform for live-stream link-up. Additionally, the tutor may provide video footage of all set-sequences to be available via Microsoft Teams/Stream. Moodle may be used for sharing useful web links, a list of music used and class news.
In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
Please note, it may not be suited to women in the first months of pregnancy. Please consult your doctor if you are pregnant, have any serious health concerns or a history of injury and inform your tutor of any physical activity you have been advised to avoid
What you need to know before you enrol
For those with some previous experience in Belly Dance. This will build on on previous knowledge. Excellent attendance and punctuality will be required from all students. This course may include some completion of activities outside of class time.
