Tips to super charge your creativity in 2025
At Morley College London, we believe tapping into your creativity can bring joy and help achieve your goals. To jumpstart your creative journey this year, we’ve asked the Morley community for their suggestions to boost creativity and stay motivated. Plus, don’t miss out on the exciting events coming up this term.
1. Reconnect with nature
Shinrin-Yoku (Forest Bathing) – Visit a woods and immerse yourself in nature. Engage all five senses to explore the outdoors — yes, taste too! Breathe fresh air, be present, and let go of negative emotions in this woodland detox. And yes, hugging a tree is encouraged!
2. Keep a notebook or scrapbook
Capture your ideas in a notebook, scrapbook, or sketchbook. Collect photos, newspaper clippings, dreams, sketches, quotes, or even overheard conversations. Don’t judge; just gather! Over time, you’ll uncover themes and ideas to inspire your next big project.
3. Repurpose fridge glass for art
Did you know an abandoned fridge could hold a treasure for painters and printmakers? The glass shelves inside make excellent cleanable palettes, especially for oil painting or mono-printing. Soft, rounded edges make them safe for both home and professional studios. Our BA Fine Art students use these all the time — give it a try!

4. Step outside your comfort zone
Set bold creative goals this year! Whether it’s writing a book, starting a podcast, or learning a new skill, pushing boundaries can ignite inspiration.
5. Engage in cross-disciplinary learning
Explore new subjects outside your usual interests. Learning about science, philosophy, or technology can inspire unexpected connections and breakthroughs in your creative field.

6. Collaborate with a community
Join a creative group or online community to share ideas and receive feedback. Collaboration can fuel motivation and help your vision.
7. Practise mindfulness and reflection
Take time to meditate, journal, or simply pause and reflect. Mindfulness helps uncover hidden ideas and brings clarity to your creative process.
8. Celebrate small wins
Don’t wait for the big milestones to celebrate. Recognising small achievements can build confidence and keep your momentum going.
9. Draw inspiration from London’s rich culture
Visit museums, attend performances, or explore London’s diverse neighbourhoods. The city’s cultural vibrancy offers endless opportunities to spark new ideas. See 11!
10. Find creativity in the everyday
Sometimes, the most inspiring moments come from the mundane. Keep an open mind and look for beauty and innovation in your daily routine.
Thank you Morley community for your ideas! And finally….
