Dr. Jennifer Crouch is an artist, educator, and researcher working in textiles, installation and image-making. Jennifer’s textile speciality is in weaving, textile construction, textile manipulation, dye, surface design, costume and pattern cutting. Their practical teaching expertise at Morley is in experimental textile practice, image transfer, pleating and quilting techniques.
Their work and pedagogy are grounded in story telling whereby the materials and design processes used are selected for their relationship to the concept they are trying to share – this approach invites materials-led and processes driven critical design practice. They have a background in physics and medical illustration. Their PhD explored the material, computational and experiential aspects of MRI and the body through weaving and sculpture.
