Heather’s career centred on education. She was for many years an academic at various universities before joining the Higher Education Funding Council for England in 2008. Her last role there was as Director of Regulation and Assurance, having previously been Director of Education, Participation and Students. She has numerous publications in the field of education and training, focusing mainly on learning, teaching, curriculum and assessment in a variety of contexts and range of levels. She has wide experience as a university course leader and external examiner. Since her retirement in 2016 Heather has served on the Board of a charity in Bristol, volunteered for two Bristol-based heritage projects and now enjoys baking for a community cafe in Bristol.
