International Fashion Icon Stella McCartney Opens Doors to Chelsea Students

It is not every day that college students get the opportunity to visit the offices of a top fashion industry icon and have a private view of their iconic and famous creations.

But that is exactly what happened for a group of Level 3 Extended Diploma in Fashion and Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Fashion students from Morley College’s Chelsea centre, who enjoyed a private view of an exhibition celebrating milestones in Stella McCartney’s fashion career.

Hosted by McCartney’s global PR team, the students experienced 21 years’ worth of fashion designs and creativity that has won McCartney international acclaim in the fashion world.

Christine Mhando, fashion tutor at the Morley College Chelsea Centre said:

“We were all in awe of the incredible designs and creativity, as well as the brand’s commitment to maintaining sustainability in all aspects of their work and further cementing their place in the fashion industry as pioneers of the conscious luxury movement.”

Highlights of the visit included seeing close-up the dresses worn by celebrities including Madonna and Rihanna at the famous Met Gala’s, to Meghan Markle’s famous second wedding outfit, designed by Stella McCartney herself.

Sustainability also informed the visit, as the students were shown how the McCartney fashion brand ensures it is as sustainable as possible, using modern technology to create materials including plant-based leather, fur free fur and recycled denim.
