To report any safeguarding concern please speak to any member of staff, email safeguarding@morleycollege.ac.uk or call 0207 4501889 and ask to speak to a member of the safeguarding team.

At Morley College London safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. We have a Safeguarding Team at each of our three centres who work to ensure that children and vulnerable adults are protected from harm and exploitation. All staff at Morley are familiar with the College’s Safeguarding and Prevent Policy and take part in mandatory Safeguarding training so they can recognise and act appropriately on any safeguarding concerns, and report disclosures and concerns following the correct College procedures.

Safeguarding and Prevent Policy

Our Safeguarding and Prevent Policy is available to download:

The Safeguarding Teams take part in additional specific subject training and run internal training for staff and workshops for students.

The College takes advice and guidance from the Safeguarding Teams on complex cases from the local authority where the student lives, as well as seeking advice from local authority Single Point of Access Services.

The College can support students internally via:

  • The Safeguarding Team and Tutors
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing Team
  • Counselling (Level 3+)
  • Community Living Well
  • Student Progress Advisers

Prevent

Prevent is part of the UK’s counter-terrorism strategy, preventing people from becoming involved in terrorism or supporting terrorism. The College has a responsibility to recognise when someone may be becoming involved in or supporting terrorism, and to offer support and make external referrals where necessary. The College understands that safeguarding vulnerable people from radicalisation is no different from safeguarding them from other forms of harm. All staff at Morley are familiar with the College’s Safeguarding and Prevent Policy and take part in mandatory Prevent training so they can recognise and act appropriately on any Prevent concerns and report disclosures and concerns following the correct College procedures.

The Safeguarding Teams take part in additional specific subject training and run internal training for staff and workshops for students.

The College takes advice and guidance from the FE Regional Prevent Coordinator on complex cases and is part of the FE Regional Prevent Forum.
