Q: Why are the prices of Morley College London’s short courses increasing from today?

A: We understand that price increases can be a concern, and we want to be transparent about why these changes are necessary.

Over the past five years, Morley’s operating costs have risen by around 25% due to inflation. Despite this significant pressure, we have worked hard to keep our annual fee increases as low as possible. In fact, our fees in 2024 were only around 13% higher than they were five years earlier.

However, for the upcoming 2025/26 academic year, we are facing a reduction in the central government funding that heavily subsidises our short course fees. Currently, for every pound you pay for a Morley short course, we receive around £2 in additional funding to help cover the costs of delivery. This vital subsidy is being reduced, which unfortunately means we need to adjust our course pricing to ensure the continued quality and breadth of our offerings.

Q: How much will course fees increase by?

A: The increase will vary depending on the specific course. However, we want to assure you that we have done everything possible to minimise the impact of the funding changes on our learners.

Q: Is Morley still affordable compared to other providers?

A: Absolutely. Morley College London remains a highly affordable option for adult learning in London. We are confident that you will not find the unique Morley experience anywhere else at any cost. This includes access to our professional art gallery, radio facilities, and a rich programme of free or very low-cost events and activities that enhance your learning beyond the classroom.

Q: I’m a returning student. Will this price increase affect me?

A: We deeply value the loyalty of our returning learners, many of whom have been with Morley for years or even decades.

To help offset the impact of these price rises, we are implementing a loyalty discount for returning students in the 2025/26 academic year. Details about this discount will be sent separately to all eligible returning students and terms and conditions are available to read here.

Q: Does Morley offer any concessionary rates?

A: Yes, we have a generous concession scheme that applies a 25% reduction to the standard course fee for eligible students. This includes learners over the age of 65 who have an annual income of less than the London Living Wage (£27,007.50 per year).

Returning students who are also eligible for a concession can also apply their loyalty discount (received separately), further reducing the impact of fee rises.

Q: Where can I find more details about eligibility for concessionary rates?

A: You can find full details about our concessionary rates on our website here: https://www.morleycollege.ac.uk/help/fees-funding-and-concessions/

Q: Where can I find out the exact price of a specific course?

A: The updated prices for all our short courses will be reflected on our website from Monday 2 June 2025, and apply to courses starting in autumn 2025. When browsing our course listings, you will see the new fee displayed, and information on how the concession would be applied if you are eligible. Returning students should also factor in any loyalty discount they have received separately.

We appreciate your understanding as we navigate these changes. Morley College London remains committed to providing high-quality, accessible learning opportunities for everyone in our community. If you have any further questions, please contact our Student Services team.
