What you will learn

This is an introductory hands on class to allow students to learn how to get started in willow sculpture and weaving. Tim will demonstrate using a range of materials and techniques, including dry and soaked willow, tool and material selection and a live practical making session. This 2 day course offers an introduction to the basic techniques, materials and processes of sculpture in willow. (This is not a basket weaving course and uses Tim’s own techniques as opposed to the traditional basket weaving skills, although there is some crossover). All Students be provided with the tools and materials to complete this course. Students will develop their own projects with tutor guidance in the lovely setting of the Morley garden. A tent will be provided in case of rain. The course is suitable for all levels including beginners.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Learn Willow weaving techniques to create sculpture
  • Explore working with both dry and soaked willow
  • All students will be able to make willow sculpture using materials and tools safely
  • Develop you own Willow Sculpture projects guided by your tutor

    This course will be held outside in the Morley Garden with a tent for cover in case of rain. All tools and materials will be provided.
