Monotype offers the printmaker the possibility of making unique, painterly print works. The teaching also includes drawing-based trace monotype. Monotype lends itself to exploration, play and discovery- - the tutor will aid your journey of discovery and exploration. You will be encouraged to develop, push and enhance your own method of working with raw ink and blank plates. The process offers huge potential for artists to make large work. You will learn about the use and importance of tools and ink manipulation. Learn and develop skills in making rich imagery that could range from highly colourful to simple, bold, monochrome, across abstract and figurative. The world is your oyster with this process - come and discover how to release the unknown secreted in a tube of ink. Beginners, intermediate and advanced students work and learn together in a friendly, vibrant, well equipped studio environment. Students are welcome to pursue their own printmaking projects assisted by the tutor whose aim is to help everyone gain deeper understanding, greater confidence and full outlet for their creative vision in a wide range of wonderful printmaking processes.
