What you will learn

Discover the Art of Batik and learn the techniques to create painterly patterns and repeating motifs through wax resist and fabric dyeing.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

Learn how to apply wax resist dyes
Discover techniques to create pattern and painterly effects
Understand how to colour, dye and fix cloth using this technqiue
Create textile samples and make notes

Class format and activities

Stuents will be taught through presentation, demonstration and handling samples. Individual and group learning with constructive feedback will help learners progress

What you need to know before you enrol

Printers work standing up. It can be physically demanding. The class is situated on the second floor of the Nancy Seear Building. There is partial disabled access is via a stair lift.
