What you will learn

An accredited course for anyone wanting to make the first steps into working as a teaching assistant. Gain L1 Award in Occupational Studies.Achievement on your course will be measured by completion of written coursework. Your progress towards achieving the learning outcomes will be reviewed throughout the course. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals: i.e.: progression to a degree course.

  • Working with teachers to plan learning

On successful completion of the course, you will achieve the following qualification: Award in Preparing to Work in Schools [NCFE]

Class format and activities

You will be working as a group or individually on written and reading tasks, projects and interactive activities.

Entry requirements

You should have English at Entry 3 or above and be able to evidence this. In order to apply, you will have to complete an application form, an English assessment and an interview.

Excellent attendance of above 90% is expected from all students.

You can enter employment as a teaching assistant, or continue your studies at Level 2.
