What you will learn

Supported Internships are a work based programme for 16-24 year olds with special education needs and/or disability who have an education, health and care plan and are looking to move into employment This fantastic learning experience sees supported interns have one day of study developing skills in employability, English and maths in addition to three to four days placement in workplaces. Morley College London is working in close partnership with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and the Supported Internship will be based in RBKC Town Hall. Work placements vary each year and in previous years placements at RBKC have involved working in offices, gardening, customer service and catering and placements may also be secured with some of RBKC local businesses and organisations. Supported Interns will have support from a Morley College London Job Coach with the aim of developing long term Job Opportunities. Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

undertake a range of work placements
complete basic applications forms
create a CV
understand key employability skills
understand key skills in communication

Class format and activities

You will have 1 day a week in the classroom at Kensington Town Hall (Hornton Street) in a dedicated learning space. You will learn key employability skills, alongside English and Maths. The other 4 days will be spent at your work placement.

Entry requirements

The programme is for 16-24 year olds who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and also hold an EHCP (Education Health and Care Plan). All applicants should be able to travel independently or be willing to undergo travel training. What you need to know before you enrol

Work experience opportunities take place within and close to Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. These placements vary from term to term. Current opportunities include library, admin, canteen, cleaning, gardening, and childcare. The course will begin on the week commencing the 2nd September.
