Class format and activities

There is an emphasis on practical learning through the creation of your own stained glass panels. For beginners, the teacher will demonstrate techniques of designing patterns, cutting glass and lead, and how to build your panels. You will then produce a small panel to practice all of the techniques. Following that, you will design a second panel to make during the remainder of the course. For those with some experience, in consultation with the teacher, you will design stained glass panels that you will execute throughout the term. We will look at how to add detail to glass with glass engraving techniques using diamond cutting discs. There will be lessons on different techniques to help you extend your skills. Throughout the course, the teacher will work with students in groups and one-to-one at the different stages of the process.
