What you will learn

In this course, learners will develop the ability to follow the storyline of Spanish-language films, express their opinions and views, and discuss relevant themes and issues. They will focus on expanding their lexical knowledge, appreciating cultural diversity, discussing cultural themes and issues in Spanish-speaking countries, and expressing their views through discussions and writing tasks.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Follow and understand main events and the storyline of Spanish-language films,
  • Understand the use of the target language in real-life contexts,
  • Understand and discuss cultural themes and social issues in Spanish-speaking countries, and
  • Express your opinions and views on film-related topics through group discussions and short writing tasks.

    Viewing segments of a film. Completing various pre and post film viewing tasks (writing tasks, pair and small group discussions, roleplays, and games). Listening for the gist or most relevant information. In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular and detailed feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.

    Entry requirements

    To have knowledge of Spanish equivalent to 50-60 hours of tuition (A2 level at least).

    Good attendance and punctuality are required from all students. This course requires study/completion of activities outside of class time (1-2 hours/weekly).

    You will need pen, a dictionary and a notebook for the weekly lessons at the college. You will also need home connection to Internet and a device to use at the college and at home..
