What you will learn

A course for those who have completed Podcasting and Radio Production 2. In the first half of this course you will learn how to prepare your podcast for release. Learn what aggregators are, how to create a unique identity for your podcast and how to make it stand out from the rest. In the second half, you will learn how to script and produce jingles and radio sweeps for Morley Radio.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Develop the theme tune for your podcast and for the Morley Radio sweeps and ads, including sourcing stock music or writing your own
  • Create the branding for your show to make it stand out and how to use social media to promote it
  • Use mixing techniques to create a professional sounding product ready for delivery
  • Understand the process of uploading a podcast to streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple and Google podcasts

    There will be lectures with recorded illustrations, demonstrations, practical work, handouts and discussions.

    Entry requirements

    Completion of Podcasting and Radio Production 2, or similar course or evidence of equivalent experience. Familiarity with a Digital Audio Workstation or DAW (e.g. Logic, Audacity, ProTools, or similar) is desirable but not essential.

    There will be a certain amount of work outside the class. Due to the nature of the content of the course you might be exposed to high volume levels. We strongly encourage everyone to bring a pair of ear plugs to every lesson.
