Fundamental Pilates core strengthening exercises aimed at improving and correcting posture. Taught and worked to gentle music to aid muscle memory development. The aim of Pilates is to re-train the brain to recruit the right muscles to perform each movement. Repeating the same movements slowly in control using the same muscles over and over again will make it a reflex arc and will enhance body conditioning in a range of ways. At this level, a good level of fitness is required. This course will also provide an ideal preparation for Jazz Dance study at Morley, taking place on a Tuesday evening from 19. 00. Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the course learning outcomes. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals i. e. progression to an advanced-level course.
Taught to gentle music to aid muscle memory, exercises will be repeated to re-train the brain and muscles. In order to ensure you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular constructive and supportive feedback from your tutor. In addition to your dance practice, study can include the use of digital resources such as film and photography, useful websites and connection with online communities of interest via social media to enhance your learning.
At this level a good level of fitness is required however adaptations and modifications of exercises will be offered to suit different levels of ability.
