NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator)
What you will learn
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Support healthy development of children through exercise and nutrition
- Apply current legislation in relation to childcare settings
- Promote children's personal, social and emotional development
- Support children with additional needs
Class format and activities
You will be working in a group or individually on written and reading tasks, projects and interactive activities. You will participate in discussions on relevant topics. You will also be observed and assessed in your placement.
In order to be counted in ratios at Level 3 in the workplace, you must have GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or above. You will need to arrange your own placement in a childcare setting and have a current DBS check. These must be in place before the course starts. Please note that we only accept online applications for this course.
What you need to know before you enrol
This is a demanding course which requires 12 hours a week at your placement, 6 hours tuition time plus additional tutorial time, and homework and independent study of up to 10 hours per week. We therefore expect students to be able to demonstrate sufficient commitment to and interest in the course. Please note this qualification does not provide any UCAS points.

You will need a computer and internet connection to participate in lesson and complete coursework.
What you can do next
You can go straight into employment or further study in childcare. This course should enable your career progression towards positions that require qualification at Level 3 - usually at a supervisory level in the children and young people’s workforce. Upon achievement of this qualification you will gain your licence to practise and you will be able to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators. You can progress into various job roles in the statutory, voluntary or private sectors such as:
- Assistant in Children's Centres
- Practitioner in nursery schools
- Practitioner in reception classes in primary schools
- Pre-school worker
