Research seasonal natural dyeing on sustainable fabrics. Explore contemporary natural dye practice locally and globally with links to ritual, medicine and folklore. Utilise plants from the Morley dye garden. Develop with support an individual project to showcase your design development.
Teaching is both on a group and individual basis in a specialist studio and dye garden. The tutor will give demonstrations, presentations and guide group discussions. By the end of the course everyone will have a range of beautiful fabric swatches together with technical notes.
Open to all levels and particularly aimed at those who have completed one of the other natural dyeing courses or tasters.
The Textile Studio is on the second floor of the building and we will also be using the college dye garden, a reasonable level of fitness is required. The class is situated on the second floor of the Nancy Sear Building. There is partial disabled access via a lift to the first floor and a stair lift to the second.
