  • If you enjoy using colour in your printmaking or painting why not try this exciting multi-colour printing technique which allows you to print several colours from a single plate or image by rolling different viscosities of ink across the surfaces
  • the process combines the principles of relief and intaglio printing achieving exciting, unexpected colour blends and effects. It was pioneered by British printmaker Stanley William Hayter in the 1960’s

  • Class format and activities

    You will work on two small images simultaneously learning to deep etch an image into zinc plates to achieve different levels in the surface. You will then learn to mix different viscosities of coloured inks, how to apply them to your image and print on to paper.

    Entry requirements

    Printing experience is helpful but beginners with an art background are welcome.

    What you need to know before you enrol

    The studio in the Carlyle building (Room CG05) on the ground floor at the Morley Chelsea Centre, Hortensia Road SW10 is light, spacious and well-equipped with specialist facilities for etching. There are 2 Rochat presses bed size 26 x 56 inches.
