What you will learn

Learn to make your own Sculpture modelling tools in wood and metal in this 1-day Sculpture Taster course. You will learn to cut and shape both wood and metal with hand tools and studio machinery to create your own hand modelling tools for use with clay, wax and/or plaster. Learn safe studio practice with hand tools and relevant studio machinery.. Open to all levels including Beginners. All materials and PPE provided.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Learn to cut and shape your own wood modelling tool with hand tools and studio machinery
  • Learn to cut and shape your own metal modelling tool
  • Watch a demonstration of how to harden and temper steel for tool making
  • Learn safe studio practice.

    What you need to know before you enrol

    Sculpture courses are held offsite 5 minute walk from the Main Waterloo campus in Pelham Hall Sculpture studio on Lambeth Walk.

    What you need

    Bring an apron or work shirt and wear comfortable sturdy closed shoes or boots. Note book and phone are handy to record procedures.
