This course is about putting theory into practice at the keyboard. Gain a greater understanding of harmony, and learn to use chord shapes in a practical context. You will learn standard chord progressions and learn to harmonise melodies in major and minor keys.Topics:•Improve knowledge of scales and chords in major and minor keys•Develop fluency and confidence with playing chords in different positions•Learn voice-leading concepts and put them into practice •Harmonise melodies in major and minor keys•Transpose material to keys up to two sharps/flats

Class format and activities
Each student will have their own keyboard with headphones. The classes will consist of instruction and demonstration as well as individual practice time and feedback. There will also be some group playing and discussion.
Entry requirements
You will need to have elementary keyboard skills (1-2 years) and knowledge of music theory at Grades 2-3. You will need to have access to a keyboard or piano outside of the class to practice between lessons.
