What you will learn
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Warm up exercises to develop technique, strength, flexibility co-ordination, sequences will be developed throughout the term.
- Develop a stronger technique, co-ordination and style.
- Promote body awareness, confidence and performance skills.
- Dance to a variety of musical styles and tempos.
- Travelling sequences to develop confidence and presentation.
- Short danced sequences performed at the end of class.
Cost
Class format and activities
Practical class; centre warm-up using repetition of exercises and sequences, from Jazz, and classical techniques. Travelling work. Learn a choreographed dance piece. Emphasis will be placed on developing movement, memory, style, rhythm and presentation of movement. In addition to your dance practice, study can include the use of digital resources, useful websites to enhance your learning. Dance study offers a range of benefits including being an enjoyable way to increase fitness whilst enhancing wellbeing and a sense of community. Dance practice at Morley can also serve to enhance skills relevant for employment by means of encouraging increased confidence, physical dexterity and concentration. In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, regular attendance is greatly advised and you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
