Get to grips with the basics of the language (e.g. personal information, numbers, professions, family, hobbies, shopping, give and understand directions, find your way around etc.). This course is suitable for complete beginners or those wishing to refresh their knowledge of the basics. (Level A1-A2)
Practise speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Write basic single words and short sentences, e.g. gap-filling, grammar exercises. Follow and give simple presentations. Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the learning outcomes above. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals (Level A1-A2)
We recommend that you achieve the learning outcomes of Italian Stage 1 Term 1 or the equivalent of 18-20 hours before enrolling for this course. Also suitable if you learnt Italian some time ago and would like to start again at near beginner’s level.
Excellent attendance and punctuality is required from all students. This course requires study/completion of activities outside of class time. The course will be delivered online. It is important that you have access to a computer for the duration of the course.
You will need a device to access online video sessions and materials (handouts and links to various websites), supplied by your tutor in Moodle. A textbook for this course will be discussed with tutor.
