Get to grips with the basics of the language (e.g. personal information, numbers, professions, family, hobbies, shopping, give and understand directions, find your way around etc.). This course is suitable for complete beginners or those wishing to refresh their knowledge of the basics. (Level A1-A2)
Practise speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Write basic single words and short sentences, e.g. gap-filling, grammar exercises. Practice your listening and speaking skills through pair work, group work, role plays and games. Follow and give simple presentations. Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the learning outcomes above. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material.
We recommend that you achieve the learning outcomes of Italian Stage 1 Term 1 or the equivalent of 18-20 hours before enrolling for this course. Also suitable if you learnt Italian some time ago and would like to start again at near beginner’s level.
Excellent attendance and punctuality is required from all students. This course requires study/completion of activities outside of class time.
