The aim of this practical course is to give you control over your DSLR, or mirrorless camera and learn the techniques, which will enable you to use your camera effectively. You will learn the basics of photography in terms of shutter speed, aperture, ISO and focussing, as well as lenses and composition. You will acquire a practical understanding of how to apply photographic techniques in different situations and achieve well-exposed photographs using the different modes and functions of your camera. As part of the course, you will also be introduced to a number of established photographers and will explore composition and light. Between sessions you will be set tasks, so as to practice the learnt skills. You will discuss your photographs and get feedback from the tutor and peers. At the end of the course, you will have the confidence to take well-composed photographs using your camera’s manual mode.
