What you will learn

An introduction to the world of Cuban dancing, the passion and rhythms, learn the endless variety of different Cuban dance styles - Chachacha, Mambo, Reggeton , Afro Cuban Rumba, old Cuban rhythms like Mozambique, Pilon and Conga. Cuba has an outstanding dance culture, best known for salsa, but there are many others such as cha cha cha, mambo, bolero, rueda de casino and son. An introduction to the world of Cuban dancing, the passion and rhythms.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Have learnt different Cuban dance styles - Chachacha, Mambo, Reggeton, Afro Cuban Rumba, old Cuban rhythms like Mozambique, Pilon and Conga - according to the music
  • Identify different Cuban Rhythms from each other, to begin to 'feel the music'
  • Control the dance styles of each rhythm
  • Distinguish between quiet and dynamic parts in the song and improvise with the learned steps

    This weekly thirty minute 'Beginner' level session - with warm-up followed by new learning and revision each week so you can develop your awareness and ability through a variety of Cuban dance forms will enable you to progress to the next level - following straight afterwards on a Friday evening at 'Improver and Intermediate' level.

    Entry requirements

    This 'Beginner' level course is open to all-comers. Your tutor can adapt activity to suit individual needs.
