What you will learn
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Workshop health and safety and guidance on pottery tools.
- Learn how to use coloured stains to colour they clay itself. Experimenting with different percentages to achieve desired colours.
- Learn to use the coloured clay for handbuilding techniques
- Learn to slip cast some basic shapes with coloured casting slip. Using the stained decorating slip to add surface decoration.

Demonstration, Q&A and guidance by tutor both individual and group these are practical hands-on sessions to develop your understanding of clay.
Entry requirements
This course would suit anyone at all levels who have basic knowledge of clay techniques.
What you need to know before you enrol
Excellent attendance and punctuality are required from all students, you need to be able to join all five sessions to get the most out of this course. We make a per kilo charge for clay, which includes the bisque and glaze firing. This class will be held in C22 ceramic studio.
What you need
Pen and notebook, clothes you do not mind getting dirty, closed toe shoes. Please bring any clay tools you have, however, there will be pottery tools available to use on the course, there are also beginners packs to buy at the college if you would like your own
