What you will learn

A class for dancers who have had at least 2 years of recent experience in Ballet technique, or those returning to Ballet. This class is not for complete beginners. Class will follow the traditional structure of a ballet class: Barre work, Centre work, traveling phrases, small and big jumps. Therefore, a good level of fitness is required to take part in this class. Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the following learning outcomes. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals i.e. progression to an advanced-level course.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Model and Specify the footwork throughout class
  • Demonstrate good ballet technique
  • Demonstrate expression within technique exercises
  • Use different rhythms within technique exercises

    Barre and Centre work, consisting of Adage, Pirouettes and Allegro.

    Entry requirements

    You will need a level of experience in ballet. This could be as a currently studying student on any other ballet course or having danced in the past. You will need enthusiasm for dance and a basic level of fitness and mobility.

    Leotard and ballet tights, or t-shirt and leggings, ballet shoes, tracksuit outer layer as necessary, athletic support (men), bottle of water
