This Course offers a dynamic introduction to modern and contemporary art through direct engagement with one of the world’s leading galleries. You are invited to join us to explore key works from Tate Modern’s collection, examining their historical, cultural, and aesthetic contexts. Through guided visits, group discussions, and reflective activities, you will deepen their understanding of artistic movements, individual artists, and curatorial approaches. Emphasizing critical thinking, you will be encouraged to develop your own responses to art, fostering a personal and informed relationship with modern visual culture. .
Sessions will be taught in an informal lecture/discussion format with group activities, mindful observation and interactive Q/A. History and art-historical facts are presented with great expertise without unnecessary technical jargon or a scholarly lecture style.
No prior art history experience required
This course will involve walking around the gallery and standing for periods of time - please indicate if portable seating will be required.
