What you will learn

Take your radio production skills to the next level and build a radio production portfolio with this hands-on course. Explore different types of radio programming by creating engaging content, developing your technical abilities, and refining your presentation style. Gain real-world experience in a professional radio station, putting into practice the skills learned throughout the term. The course wraps up with a live broadcast, where you will showcase your work as part of the Morley Radio Student Takeover, delivering the content live to your audience.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Plan, produce and present a broadcast-ready magazine-style or breakfast radio show
  • Use portable equipment to capture high-quality vox pops and interviews on location
  • Arrange, conduct and record interviews with remote guests to incorportate into your show
  • Consolidate your understanding of broadcasting tools in the environment of Morley Radio

Entry requirements

A strong interest in radio, Access outside of class to a basic recording set up (PC or Mac computer, audio interface, recording software such as Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase, etc. and basic microphone) is strongly recommended. Some experience of using Apple computers would be an advantage, but support during class will be given. Basic computer skills, file management, etc.

What you need to know before you enrol

A certain amount of homework is required. Due to the nature of the content of the course you might be exposed to high volume levels. We strongly encourage everyone to bring a pair of ear plugs to every lesson.
