What you will learn

Further develop you technique for playing open chords and simple melodies including strumming and picking patterns in folk and pop songs. Suitable for players with two terms' experience, or equivalent.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand basic music theory: notation, rhythm representation and symbols
  • Develop plectrum skills
  • Develop rhythm skills
  • Read and apply A and E major chords, F major 7, A7, D7, E7 and B7 chords

  • Ability to play a lead riff

Entry requirements

This course is for those with some ability to play acoustic guitar, and knowledge of simple chords, strumming and picking patterns. Ideally you will have taken Acoustic Guitar 1 earlier in the year, but please enquire to find out more.

What you need to know before you enrol

You will need to be willing and able to do short, regular practice sessions between classes: at least 10–15 minutes, at least 4 times a week.

6-string acoustic guitar , A4 folder Notebook/Progression Diary Pencil and Eraser All sheet music and learning resources will be provided
