About the Role

The post holder will have responsibility for the curriculum development and operational management of a programme area that includes English, maths and basic ICT at the North Kensington centre for skills. We are particularly interested in applicants with a strong FE background in either English or maths, or both, at GCSE level. Experience managing a team of lecturers is essential. Evidence of involvement in teaching and learning through staff development or research would be an advantage as the current post-holder has overseen two maths research projects: one for GCSE resit students and one for functional skills.

This role includes overseeing and enhancing an engaging and innovative maths and English curriculum for 16–18-year-olds as well as for adult GCSE and Functional Skills courses. The programme area manager will advise students, oversee quality assurance, and manage tutors. Candidates should be familiar with examination board specifications and standardisation. Experience as an exam marker or internal verifier would be an advantage. We are looking for someone who would be able to develop extra-curricular activities for adult students in the Essential Skills department and who can liaise with other curriculum areas to develop learners' employability and educational opportunities beyond the English and maths curriculum.

The post holder will also support the Head of School in providing strategic leadership and management in line with the College's strategic priorities and will contribute to cross-college initiatives to support whole College development. They will contribute to the teaching of programmes/courses within the subject area, with the hours to be taught reviewed on an annual basis by the Head of School as required by the college-wide curriculum plan, up to a maximum of 500 hours.

If you would like to discuss this role in advance of applying, please contact the Head of School via email at Melissa.Score @morleycollege.ac.uk.
