Morley’s Music department provides a high standard of tuition for musicians at all levels of ability, from absolute beginners to aspiring professionals.
We offer a wide range of courses covering everything from drum kit to opera, world music to Pro-Tools, and renaissance polyphony to 20th-century composition. You can also audition for the celebrated Morley Opera School – a high-level performance course with coaches from leading international opera houses. There are many opportunities for performance and, for those wishing to go on to study music at university, we offer a successful one-year Access to HE Diploma in music or music technology.
Our facilities include a state-of-the-art digital recording studio, offering courses in sound engineering and recording techniques, software platforms, composition theory and sound design; and a new digital piano studio providing a piano per student on beginner to intermediate level piano classes.
Students benefit from a number of showcase opportunities, including a regular series of free Tuesday lunchtime concerts for the public, performances by our choirs and ensembles, and a week of shows by our advanced opera students each term.
Music at Morley has has a long and distinguished history, and has welcomed many well-known composers, vocalsits and instrumentalists to its teaching staff over the years, including Gustav Holst, Sir Michael Tippett, Cornelius Cardew, John Gardner, Anthony Milner, Matyas Seiber and Ralph Vaughan Williams to name but a few.
Whatever your musical tastes and interests, we hope you will discover them here at Morley.
